Beacon Hill is partnering with a well-established NYC nonprofit organization to hire an Accounting Manager on a contract-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team and play a key role in the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support month-end and year-end close activities
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and cash activity
- Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, audit preparation, and compliance requirements
- Monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy
- Partner with internal stakeholders on accounting processes and special projects
- Support process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting initiatives
- Work closely with leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial information
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Prior supervisory experience is a plus but not required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nonprofit accounting experience
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or a similar accounting system
- Experience supporting audits and financial reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
